Mission Statement
To aid the Native American Indians and
raise awareness to the American public of the unbelievable
needs and challenges which these Americans face. (Currently
and specifically the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota)
NAAP "Evelyn" HISTORY
After three frustrating cancellations,
she was finally was able to speak to the children. Mally
Paquette arrived to give her speech to a filled and excited
school gymnasium. The children were excited to learn more
about our Native American Indians and, as usual, Mally hoped
to touch a few hearts, and to bring help and some much needed
survival assistance to her friends, the Lakota Indian people
at Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
When the presentation was over a small, frail nun approached the podium with a smile and this story. "Speaks Holy" told Mally that she had worked with the Indian children since she was 16 and had been forced to retire - this very day - at the young age of 92. With tears, as she rode the bus to the school this very morning, Speaks Holy prayed that God would send someone to take her place, so these wonderful Indian children would continue to learn and have their most desperate needs met. Speaks Holy gave Mally a hug and told her that she and the NAAP were sent as an answer to her morning prayer. The little sister spoke of a contentment in her heart knowing that someone else had now been sent to carry on her lifelong, saving efforts.
This wonderful organization supports the Indian reservation
through the generous gifts of their dedicated supporters.
Last year, NAAP designed a bear that was to be given to
the children on the reservation as a Christmas gift, and
for many of them, it was their only gift of the season.
The little bear was named Evelyn to honor a wonderful Indian
woman whom the 300 children on the reservation had known
and loved, and the hang tag insert prayer was written by
Speaks Holy, after much prayer and meditation.
"Evelyn" has also been a wonderful fundraising tool in NAAP's efforts to bring assistance to the southwestern South Dakota Lakota Indians. Many area churches offered to help, by selling "Evelyn". The NAAP and all their supporters hope that "Evelyn" may stir the heart of America to an awareness of the struggles of all our Native Americans. Presently, the organization is looking into the possibility of offering "Evelyn" at the Crazy Horse National Monument in South Dakota and in our nation's museums. We will keep you posted on their progress.
NAAP Vision Statement
We will begin by assisting
in basic necessities and improving economic conditions through
the implementation of projects to empower, educate, employ
and enrich the lives of the Native American Indians. We
are convinced that Americans will assist when made aware
of the present living conditions of these once noble, spirited
and proud people. We are the strongest, bravest and most
powerful people in the world. TOGETHER we CAN change the
injustices of history.
Lakota means "Alliance
of People", and we pray for an alliance of people who
care
